Death Race 2050 is a 2017 American political satire, action film directed by G.J. Echternkamp and starring Manu Bennett, Marci Miller and Malcolm McDowell. This is the year 2050. The Death Race serves both entertainment and population control in the United Corporations of America, which is afflicted by overpopulation and an unemployment rate of 99.993%. Reigning Death Race champion Frankenstein is now in the running for the title. Genetically created athletes Jed Perfectus and Minerva Jefferson, a hip-hop phenomenon Tammy the Terrorist, and the villainous, black, artificially intelligent, self-driving automobile ABE face up against Frankenstein. Virtual reality headsets are used to let spectators to see the race via the eyes of a driver's proxy broadcaster. As soon as he meets his proxy, Annie Sullivan, Frankenstein is put off and refuses to talk to either her or her proposals to allow his opponents past him.
Rebels, headed by former network producer Alexis Hamilton, plant traps all over the East Coast while the drivers race. When Tammy and Minerva take one other's cult members with the purpose of killing them, they develop a bitter rivalry. As a result of encountering an insurgent trap, ABE malfunctions, kills its proxies, and departs the race in search of its life's ultimate purpose. Frankenstein is ordered to be killed at the first checkpoint by Hamilton. She fails in her effort to woo him since he only worries about winning the race. In other places, the Chairman says that Frankenstein has become a burden because of his long life, but Perfectus will inspire his dedicated followers to die at his hands instead.
Racer's second day of competition takes them across the country's gun-toting heartland. By way of a suicide bomber, Tammy's henchwoman Chi Wapp is slain. His automobile becomes stranded in the cornfield as Frankenstein attempts another shortcut. Frankenstein fights off a squad of Resistance ninjas as Annie walks off. Annie confesses to being a rebel and tries to recruit Frankenstein at the second checkpoint. Reiterating that his main goal in life is to win the race, Frankenstein condemns the rebels as well as the government. It is revealed to Annie at a bar by the educated intellectual Minerva who plays a stereotyped hip-hop role to live. A jealous Perfectus attacks Frankenstein as he returns to his chamber, but Annie intervenes and rescues him. Moreover, it is shown that Hamilton and the Chairman are working together in the background.
On Day three, the government arranges "authorized" routes to prevent Resistance assaults. Annie helps Frankenstein swap gears after Perfectus injured his right arm. Minerva follows Tammy but jumps down a cliff to evade her proxy. Tammy gloats over Minerva's murder before a returning ABE destroys them both. Frankenstein and Annie kill Hamilton and her rebels, while Perfectus takes a covert way. Perfectus's automobile loses control and smashes into the VR control booth. Frankenstein suggests the Chairman is worth 1,000 points before reaching the finish line. After murdering the Chairman, Frankenstein invites the onlookers to launch their own Death Race. Frankenstein and Annie watch as the nation descends into turmoil and advise repopulating it.

How did Death Race 2050 come to be?
Corman received the idea for a sequel to the first picture when being interviewed by an Italian journalist who said that The Hunger Games reminded him of Death Race 2000. Corman approached Universal Pictures, which had created the contemporary version (which Corman believed had lost too much of the original's political criticism), and proposed reintroducing the dark humor of the original. "You did a terrific job," Corman said, "but you left out the pedestrian killings and the broken-society themes."
Filming started while Corman was in his 80s, just around the time of the 2016 election. One of America's most well-known businessmen is featured in this film. "The president does have a hair style that may be approaching Trump's hair style, but I don't want to go too deep into that, since Trump will come and go and the film will stay."
